Program Overview
This program will take you to Edinburgh, Scotland, where you will experience the city’s historic and cultural landmarks while engaging in academic activities focused on outdoor experiential learning and inclusive education. Participants will take part in professional development workshops, coastal and woodland outdoor learning sessions, and school visits with educators who integrate inclusive outdoor education into their teaching. Cultural highlights include a guided walking tour of Edinburgh, excursions to Stirling Castle and North Berwick, and free time to explore the city’s rich history and vibrant neighborhoods. Students participating in this travel program to Scotland must be enrolled in any one of the following courses during the Spring 2026 semester:

Costs
A non-refundable application fee of
$100.00 will be paid at the time of application. The application fee is a $100.00
non-refundable administrative fee to cover wire transfer fees as well as currency fluctuations.

Estimated Costs: $1,800.00 (estimated cost-final cost will be confirmed in mid-December and at the time of billing)
Cost includes:
International airfare
Most program activities/site visits and excursions
Shared accommodations in a hotel
Most meals throughout the program provided by Newbattle Abbey College (except on the air travel day to Scotland)
In-country transportation to all program sponsored activities
Not included in the program cost above:
Basic international travel insurance-estimated at $16 per week of travel
Any baggage fees charged by the airlines-estimated at $50-$75.00 per checked in bag
Any meals not provided by Newbattle Abbey College
Personal spending money-we recommend an estimated $700.00 in personal spending money to cover meals beyond breakfasts and incidentals including personal shopping. This estimate is determined by previous student reports of personal spending and may vary by participant.
