Program Overview
This faculty led program will provide Slippery Rock University students the opportunity to learn about the academic discipline of adapted physical activity by attending the 2025 International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity (ISAPA). Hosted by the Kingdom of Kerry in the city of Tralee, Ireland, students, APA-related policy makers, practitioners and scholars from around the world will come together to learn, network and socialize while advancing the health and wellness for individuals with disabilities. The themes of this year's symposium are the following:
1. Creating new opportunities to thrive
2. 'Inclusivizing' our world
3. Nothing about us, without us
Students enrolled and studying in the area of adapted physical activity and/or health and physical education, will develop a worldview that acknowledges diversity and global interdependence at the ISAPA 2025 conference. Participants will experience through high quality interactions how policy in sport, physical activity, and physical education can be a vehicle for advancing human rights for individuals with disabilities at local, regional, national and global levels.
This program is not associated with a summer 2025 course. As such, graduating seniors are not eligible to participate in this travel program unless you will be enrolled in summer 2025 courses to complete your degree or are enrolled to return as a graduate student in fall 2025. Furthermore, students are not eligible to explore financial aid eligibility to offset the costs associated with this program.
This program will be capped at 20 student participants. Applications will be reviewed and approved on a first come-first serve basis.
