Program Overview

The Honors Seminar in Global Learning course and study abroad experience will focus on the rich history and cultural values that shape Spanish creativity, design, and innovation. Barcelona has undergone a transformation in recent years. The city has always been known for great thinkers, creative artists and architects, but now it can add smart-city, mobile-capital, and leading startup-city to its global identity.

Students will explore the creative and cultural highlights of Barcelona including the works of Picasso, Gaudi, Dali & Miro that laid the foundation for Barcelona’s reputation in creativity, innovation and design. With an understanding of the historical roots of creativity in Barcelona, students will investigate the ways in which Spanish culture and these early innovators influenced the advancement of their fields of study to influence present day innovation.

Student participants must be enrolled Honors Seminar in Global Learning (HONR 300) during the Spring 2024 semester.
