Program Overview


This spring break program is a quick, fun,and affordable way to combine learning with international travel by examining the field of Health Care Administration and Management from the perspective of the communities and cultures of Spain. While in country, students will visit local hospitals and talk with administrators about the health care system in country all while exploring the amazing cities of Madrid, Segovia and Barcelona. Further information about this program is available from Dr. David Jordan as well as the Office for Global Engagement located in Spotts World Culture Building-Room 002C. 

Please note that this program is associated with the following course: HCAM 300. Students enrolled in HCAM 300 during the Spring 2020 semester are eligible to explore financial aid options for the program costs noted below. Please visit the Financial Aid Office in 107 Maltby Center to inquire about aid eligibility. Students not enrolled in HCAM 300 during the spring semester are still eligible to participate in this spring break program but would not be eligible for financial aid to cover the program costs noted below.

Fall publicity for Spring Break-Faculty Led Programs begins September, October, November 
Apply for your passport Immediately upon application (a copy of your passport will be due in December 2019)
Student applications & application fee due Last day of Spring registration (November 15, 2019)
Official acceptances announced Last week of November/First week of December
Students billed for program fees Mid December
Airline reservations confirmed Mid January (airline fees are non-refundable once the reservations are confirmed in January 2020)
Pre-Departure meetings with Directors Mid January/February/March
Group departs Wednesday/Thursday/Friday before Spring Break (exact dates TBD)

Costs


A non-refundable application fee of $125.00 will be paid at the time of application. The application fee covers the cost of an international student identity card ($25.00) and $100.00 non-refundable administrative fee.

Please note that this program is associated with the following course: HCAM 300. Estimated Costs: $2099.00
Cost includes:
  • International airfare
  • Most program activities/site visits and excursions
  • Shared accommodations
  • Most breakfasts
  • In-country transportation
  • Basic International Travel Insurance (via the ISIC card noted above)

**We recommend an estimated $500.00-$600.00 in personal spending money to cover meals beyond breakfasts and incidentals including personal shopping. This estimate is determined by previous student reports of personal spending and may vary by participant.**
