Program Information:
For three unforgettable weeks over the summer, you’ll wind your way from northern to southern Italy, visiting famous cities, villas, beaches, and historical landmarks. Your classroom will be each destination, allowing you to see and learn first hand the deep history and stories this country has to offer. You’ll earn six credits from the Florence University of the Arts as you take in Italy’s delicious cuisine and vibrant culture. This program is the best way to let your history books come alive, giving you a greater appreciation for places like Mt. Vesuvius and the Vatican.

Here are some things to expect while on this unique program:
  • Opportunity to learn and identify the local character and diversity of each Italian region
  • Breakfast and some group meals included
  • Instruction in English as you also practice Italian
  • Bike tour to Forte dei Marmi and visit to the weekly outdoor market
  • Option to take an additional three-week, three-credit session at the Florence University of the Arts campus
Location Highlights:
Fashion and Contemporary Culture: We'll start our tour by visiting one of Italy's more contemporary destinations: Milan. Enjoy insight into the world of Italian aesthetics, evident in the city's sleek architecture and fashionable residents. Certainly not stuck in the past, cities like Florence and Rome offer trendy bars, restaurants, and art scenes.

A Lifetime of Ruins, Monuments, and Museums: Home of more UNESCO World Heritage sites than any other country, Italy doesn't disappoint for history buffs and culture vultures. You certainly can't miss attractions like the Colosseum, Pantheon, Basilica, and the Vatican. There are an estimated 100,000 or so monuments of historical and cultural significance in Italy!

Stunning Landscapes: As aesthetically-pleasing and culturally-engaging as Italy's cities are, no visit is complete without taking in its stunning natural landscapes. Between its abundant Mediterranean coastline, long span of latitudes, and mountainous interior, Italy's natural backdrop rivals its architectural wonders. Set your sights on the likes of the Amalfi Coast, Mt. Vesuvius, and the Apuan Alps of Tuscany.

Academics:
3-week Italian Civilization & Culture course through Florence University of the Arts. Credits can be earned in a number of disciplines, such as Geography, History, Anthropology, Food and Culture, Sociology, or Art History.
