Program Overview

Slippery Rock University College of Education majors have the unique opportunity to complete one month of their student teaching experience in Ireland (Fall semesters) or Spain (Spring semesters). These programs are led by experienced faculty members that are with the students for the duration of the trip. The program is open to all certification areas Pre-K-4 to secondary education, as well as art, music, and physical education majors. During these experiences, the students stay in pairs, teach in the local schools, and experience cultural immersion through weekend trips to various sites in both countries. From castles to basilicas to local foods and local history, students that attend these experiences, walk away from the programs realizing it was the "trip of a lifetime". They also realize that it makes them standout in the job-seeking market place, when interviewing with school administrators.

Please contact Professor Sara Tours ( sara.tours@sru.edu ) in Slippery Rock University College of Education for more information about the application and selection process.
