Program Overview

Due to COVID-19, programs are pending final confirmation by the host program/host university and the ability for students to travel to and enter their host country.  Travel restrictions will be monitored and the program status will be communicated to applicants during the application process. Kansai Gaidai University is located in Hirakata, Japan, and is one of SRU's exchange partners.

Kansai Gaidai has made the decision that students living in their residence hall (Global Commons -YUI) must be vaccinated for COVID - 19 prior to their arrival at Kansai Gaidai.  Although all of their dorm rooms are single rooms, due to the shared facilities with about 20 students sharing one unit of the residential hall including bathrooms, living room area, and kitchen facilities, they feel that it is important that all students be protected from COVID-19 to the extent possible.

Students will be asked to submit a proof of the vaccination after the final decision is made regarding our on-site program, thus, proof of vaccination will be required sometime after November.  If for any reasons, such as medical or religious, students cannot complete the vaccination they will have to request a waiver at that time.  For students whose waiver is accepted, we will required them to take the PCR testing at least twice a month at their own expenses (approximately US$50/per single test).

As of September 2022, when coming into Japan, usage of public transportation is prohibited and quarantine is required for 14 days respectively.  Thus, if these regulations do not change, Kansai Gaidai will arrange through our travel agency for specific transportation and hotel arrangement for quarantine.  Students will have to be responsible for the related costs which is expected to be somewhere around JPY150,000 - 200,000 or US$1,430 - 1,910.
